The Town of Atlantic Beach suspended the business license Tuesday of a controversial adult-video store on U.S. 17 and ordered it to close, officials said.
Town Manager Kenneth McIver said Excitement Video still owes an unspecified amount of business-license fees from last year, and is ordered to remain closed until it pays them. Businesses are charged the fees according to their gross income levels, so the amounts they are charged are not considered public information.
Atlantic Beach and Excitement Video have been embroiled in a legal dispute over business-license fees for several years. Messages left at the video store and for its attorney late Tuesday were not returned.
