LIGHT Shines on Myrtle Beach

-

LIGHT, a new entertainment show, opened this summer at the Gilmore Auditorium, home of Calvin Gilmore's Carolina Opry and Good Vibrations shows. Considered to be America's biggest laser light show, this multi-million dollar display features lasers from Lightwave International, the company behind the lasers used in the concerts of Madonna and Pink Floyd.

Creating a rhythmic base for a beat driven laser light show, several musical themes are currently running. Enjoy the sounds of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and more. During this 45 minute show, LIGHT progresses through a broad list of songs, giving the audience quality sound and visual effects. Overhead, in a large field of vision, five lasers are beamed in movement to the beat of the music. Images, relating to material in the song, are projected in 3-D from by the center laser. Flanking it on either side are two additional lasers. Working harmoniously, the five lasers change color, strobe, and shift to create a visual piece of art.

These lasers have been incorporated into Gilmore's other productions as well. "The lasers are also used in parts of the Carolina Opry and Good Vibrations... It's a good way to get a taste of what they are like, so you can come back and see the laser show," Gilmore says.

LIGHT is running six shows through Aug. 2, with plans to change or alter the list of themes and artists after that date.
