"I love you, man"

-

Paul Rudd has been the quick-witted, snarky star that every director making comedy movies has wanted in their films. That is why it is nice to see him as the socially stunted, whipped by his girlfriend, all around good guy that he plays in "I Love You, Man." Rudd brings out his best Ben Stiller from "Meet the Parents" playing a fumbling fiancé on the verge of getting married, only to discover he has no male friends to be on his side of the wedding party. Jason Segal plays Rudd's bro in this bromance and he is the grounded counterpart to Rudd's goofy character. Rudd's demeanor should not be a surprise coming from writer/director John Hamburg who wrote "Meet the Parents" and "Along Came Polly" which typified Stiller's softer roles. Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly hit the mark as a couple that both love and hate one another. Rashida Jones, from TV's "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation," handles the job of straight-woman well with her turn of Rudd's bride to be. "I Love You, Man" does not try to rehash comedies of the past - it provides new laughs, including Lou Ferrigno in a sizable role, making fun of himself. To cut to the chase - I love this movie, man! So go ahead and rent it.
