First quarter

Key moment | Neither team scored in the first half, which was not surprising considering Coastal averaged just 3.1 points and Charleston Southern averaged just 5.2 in the first quarter this season.

The man | Charleston Southern kicker John Paglia, the reigning Big South Special Teams Player of the Year, missed a 30-yard field goal in the opening stanza to keep the game scoreless.

Second quarter

Key moment | Charleston Southern quarterback A.J. Toscano scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 1:06 left in the half, giving the Buccaneers a 10-3 lead. However, Coastal quarterback Zach MacDowall completed four passes to drive the Chanticleers to Charleston Southern's 26.

The man | After completing a 26-yard pass to tailback Tommy Fraser, who rumbled to the 2, MacDowall scored on his third quarterback sneak in two weeks, tying the game at 10-all heading to the locker room.

Third quarter

Key moment | After the Buccaneers kicked a field goal to take a 13-10 lead, MacDowall threw an interception on the next play from scrimmage, giving Charleston Southern the ball at the 50-yard line. Five plays later, Toscano threw an 11-yard score to Kwame Krakue.

The man | Fraser kept the Chanticleers within striking distance, rushing four times for 33 yards and a touchdown on the next drive to cut Coastal's deficit to 20-16.

Fourth quarter

Key moment | The Chants trailed 23-16 when MacDowall was intercepted by Charleston Southern safety Matt Bach, who returned the pick 25 yards for the clinching touchdown with 4:32 left.

The man | Charleston Southern tailback Antwan Ivey helped the Buccaneers burn the clock after Coastal cut the deficit to 30-23, gaining 18 yards on three carries on his team's final drive. Ivey rushed for 145 yards on 19 carries.
