THE LOCALE | Bistro 90
LOWDOWN | This week we hit up Bistro 90 on SC 90 in Longs for happy hour to enjoy some delicious martinis and fabulous food. The atmosphere and good deals are well worth the 1.5 mile jaunt off the S.C. 22 intersection.
Bistro 90 appears very upscale and classy but is considered casual fine dining, and the establishment welcomes everyone from families to business people to retired folks to bikers. The maroon carpet and chairs mesh nicely with the squash colored walls, and the dark cherry wood adds to the elegance of Bistro 90. Plus, you can tell by the attention to detail that this bistro was decorated by a professional interior designer.
There are a dozen comfortable high chairs with backs at the bar. A handful of high-top tables also surround the bar area, which is separated from the dining area by a partial wall. You can also choose to sit outside at tables under a covered porch when the weather warrants.
The restaurant serves Italian and American cuisines, including delicious fresh bread made every morning, as well as a specialty marinara sauce and other sauces (such as Alfredo) are made to order. The bartender dials up delicious drinks and you can also take your pick from the so-called "wine wall" - boasting a number of bottles of wine from $20 up to more than $100. During happy hour, you can get a glass of house wine for $4.
Other happy hour deals include $3.50 mixed drinks (with premium well liquor), $2 domestic bottled beer and $5 martinis. You can also cash in on half-price appetizers or 25-cent wings (choose from six flavors).
TIPS | If you want to cash in on deals prior to happy hour, Bistro 90 offers a lunch menu with a dozen meals for less than $5 until 3:30 p.m.
