THE LOCALE | Side Street Saloon, Myrtle Beach
THE LOWDOWN | If you're looking for a hideaway pub with cheap drinks and TVs galore, the Side Street Saloon in Myrtle Beach is now open. That's where we hit this week for happy hour.
Nearly 50 TVs line the walls of the Side Street Saloon for your viewing pleasure. The bar has all the sports packages, so you can be sure to catch anything on game days.
Side Street Saloon is located where Calli Baker's Roadhouse used to be, and before that it was Hurricane Cove. Inside the bar, there are high-top tables and a number of bar stools. You can also choose to sit outside on the large back deck if the weather is nice. There are tables and a wrap-around bench, plus an outdoor bar.
Expect to see a lot of locals at the Side Street Saloon...several even drive their golf carts to the nearby bar. The atmosphere of Side Street Saloon is upbeat yet laid back. There's a juke box with a wide variety of songs and sports are playing on the dozens of TV screens. If you'd like to play your own game choose from Silver Strike Bowling, a couple of pool tables and outdoor volleyball in the summer.
Happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drink deals include $2 domestic drafts, $3.50 for 24-ounce cans and $3.50 house liquors. You can also enjoy $2 vodkas all day, every day. If you're hungry, Side Street Saloon has food, and it also has free popcorn - which bartenders serve to you in dog bowls.
