THE LOCALE | Milliken's Hidden Reef
THE LOWDOWN | Calling all boaters and seafood lovers, Milliken's Hidden Reef - next to the Dock Holiday's Marina - is the perfect hideaway for you. That's where we hit this week for happy hour.
Located right on the Intracoastal Waterway, Milliken's has a stellar view from all angles. It's lined with windows, and its prime spot on the marina gives the locale a peaceful and relaxing setting. When it's warm, you can enjoy the outside deck - and all year, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset.
There's a bar on your left as soon as you walk in the front door, and two more bars that open in-season. There's also a large dining area and extensive menu, including seafood, steaks, pasta and salads. Milliken's is nice but casual, so you can enjoy a fine dining experience without breaking out your fancy clothes.
Milliken's gets an early crowd - usually between 4-9 p.m. The clientele is friendly and happy, and when we visited, a Christmas tree sat in the corner to heighten the holiday spirit. There's live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays - you'll hear jazz, beach and country music. You can also try out your own vocal cords on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays during Karaoke.
Happy Hour runs from 4-7p.m. everyday (except Mondays and Tuesdays, when Milliken's is closed.) Drink specials include $2 domestic beers, $2.50 house liquors and $3 wines. You can also get select appetizers for half-price, including coconut shrimp, ahi tuna, calamari and oysters.
TIPS | You can also get to Milliken's by boat. Park at Dock Holiday's Marina and just let the dock master know you're heading to Milliken's Hidden Reef.
