Recap: Buffalo vs. Boston

David Krejci netted the winner in the fourth round of the shootout as Boston clipped Buffalo, 3-2, at HSBC Arena.

Buffalo's Drew Stafford opened the round with an unsuccessful wrister. Krejci skated down the middle of the ice, and although it appeared he lost control of the puck briefly, gathered it in and wristed a shot high and inside the right post for the deciding score.

Daniel Paille scored twice in regulation for the Bruins, who have won two in a row after dropping 10 straight. Tuukka Rask stopped 43 shots over the first 65 minutes of action for the win.

Derek Roy and Tyler Myers tallied for the Sabres, who have lost five in a row. Ryan Miller made 32 saves in the hard-luck defeat.

Paille tallied against his former team to get the Bruins on the board 4:51 into the contest, then Zdeno Chara's point blast found Paille's stick for a 2-0 Boston edge at 11:58.

"We didn't like the way we started, giving them a couple easy goals," Roy said.

Roy ripped a shot over Rask's glove at the tail end of a 5-on-3 advantage to get Buffalo within a goal at 4:35 of the second period. The Sabres knotted the game when Myers' shot from 40 feet through a screen sailed by Rask with 1:25 remaining.

A scoreless third period followed where Rask made 12 saves and Miller stopped eight shots. The Sabres survived a short-handed situation in overtime when Thomas Vanek was sent off for hooking.

"I thought we got back to our game in the third," said Boston head coach Claude Julien. "It was a pretty good third period for both teams. We managed to find a way to win in the shootout. That's a big extra point."
