Junior golf

CHARLESTON | Little River's Tara Lyons shot a 4-over 75 on Wednesday and finished 10 strokes behind medalist Katie Rose Higgins of Charleston in the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea at the Country Club of Charleston.

Lyons finished with a two-day total of 9-over 151.

Moore's Blake Kennedy (67) won the boys division with an 8-under-134 total.

Amateur golf

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. | The team of Suzanne Moro of Myrtle Beach and Babs McIntosh of Murrells Inlet shot a 5-over 77 in the final round of the 32nd Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship to tie for first with Durham's Therese St. Peter and Donna Sisson in the Tournament Division.

Both teams finished with a two-day total of 8-over 152.

The Murrells Inlet pairing of Rhan Parham and Marlene Wollney (89) finished 17th at 26-over 170 in the same division.

In the Championship Division, Calabash, N.C.'s Cindel Gwyn teamed with Kathleen Strandberg of Greensboro, N.C., to shoot a final-round 2-over 74 and finished ninth at even-par 144.

Pro golfKyle Dobbs shot a 7-under 65 to open a one-stroke lead after the first round of the eGolf Professional Tour's River Run Championship being played at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C., and NorthStone Club in Huntersville, N.C.

Murrells Inlet's Derek Watson (72) was tied for 78th, and Pawleys Island's Jeremy Pope and Galivants Ferry's Michael Maness were tied for 95th after 73s.

CALABASH, N.C. | Kyle Bradley shot a 7-under 65 on Wednesday and was tied with Greg Blackwell after the second round of the NGA Hooters Tour Carolina Series event at Meadowlands Golf Club.

The duo shared a one-stroke lead with two-round totals of 9-under 135.

North Myrtle Beach's Tony Parrish (68) was two strokes back in fourth place, Myrtle Beach's Roberto Diaz (73) was three strokes back in a tie for fifth and Myrtle Beach's Kellen Altman (72) was six back in a tie for seventh.

Little River's Derek Reed (75-72147) is also in the field.

PINEHURST, N.C. | Conway High graduate Curt Sanders of Wilmington, N.C., and Pawleys Island's Dale Ketola were unable to earn spots in the national championship during the Carolinas Callaway Golf PGA Assistant Championship, but they did win money.

Sanders shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday at Forest Creek Golf Club (South) to finish 11th at 1-under 143, while Ketola (73) tied for 19th at 1-over 145. Sanders earned $270 and Ketola brought home $170.

The top five players earned spots in the National PGA Assistant Championship, with three players garnering alternate spots.

Myrtle Beach's Bart Romano (84-75159) and Edward Benton (85-81166) also competed.
