TIP OF THE WEEK

Essentials in Putting
In studying the best putters through the history of golf I have found that they all have some common denominators. I call these the Essentials In Putting.

1. Eyes are over the ball or slightly inside the ball. Never outside the ball.

2. Hands are under their shoulders. I said hands, not arms

3. Hips are over the heels of their feet

4. A line drawn up the club shaft would bisect the forearms

Let's look at these one at a time. Your eyes over the ball are important because usually when you aim at something your eyes are inline with what you are going to. Think of darts, pool, shooting a rifle or a bow and arrow. Getting your eyes over the ball allows you to see your target and allows you to aim your body correctly to make your best stroke possible. Set up at address and have a friend drop a ball from the bridge of your nose between your eyes. If it lands on the ball or slightly inside the ball you are good to go.
