Tween Justin Bieber fans lose control at NY mall

New York police shut down a mall appearance by teen pop singer Justin Bieber (BEE'-ber) after thousands of young girls showed up and got a little too wild.

Nassau County police say girls and adults in the crowd of nearly 3,000 started pushing and shoving as they waited for the 15-year-old sensation to arrive Friday at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.

Five people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

Michael Jackson glove among items at music auction

A collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia, including the rhinestone-studded glove he wore when he unveiled the moonwalk in 1983, is being sold at auction.

The glove and other Jackson items are part of a music memorabilia auction being held by Julien's Auctions at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York's Times Square on Saturday.

Jackson wore the left-handed glove and a fedora, when he performed what was to become his trademark dance on Motown's 25th-anniversary TV special. It's a modified, store-bought glove covered with a mesh of rhinestones.

Sheryl Crow takes up cause of wild horses in West

Sheryl Crow is joining others in calling on the federal government to halt roundups of wild horses in the West, branding them as inhumane and unnecessary.

The Grammy Award-winning singer has asked President Barack Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to scrap a proposed roundup of 2,500 mustangs in northern Nevada.

"With one voice we are insisting that our government stop managing these beautiful and important animals to extinction," Crow said in a statement released by the Cloud Foundation, a Colorado Springs, Colo.-based horse advocacy group.

Motown caps 50th anniversary with hometown gala

Swedish soprano Elisabeth Soderstrom, an international opera star, has died, her husband Sverker Olow says.

Olow says Soderstrom died in Stockholm early Friday morning of complications from a stroke.

Soderstrom, who was 82, made her debut in 1947 at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre, singing in one of Mozart's lesser-known works.

Charges dismissed against country singer John Rich

A Nashville judge has dismissed assault and harassment charges against country music singer John Rich.

Rich and other witnesses testified Friday before Judge John Aaron Holt that he did not punch aspiring singer Jared Ashley at a private nightclub in March 2008.

Ashley, a former contestant on the cable TV music show "Nashville Star," claimed Rich later threatened him in a voice mail message.

Miley Cyrus tour bus overturns in Va., killing 1

The driver of a Miley Cyrus tour bus was killed Friday when the bus overturned, but the 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star wasn't on board, Virginia State Police said.

Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the bus ran off the left side of Interstate 85, struck an embankment and overturned. The accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. in Dinwiddie County, about 40 miles south of Richmond. Speed and weather weren't considered factors.

The driver, William G. Douglas, 53, of Austin, Texas, died at the scene, police said.

Britney Spears' ex sentenced to jail

Britney Spears' ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is being sent to jail for 45 days for leaving the scene of an accident.

Los Angeles District Attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison says Ghalib was taken into custody immediately after being sentenced Friday.

He pleaded no contest last month to leaving the scene of an accident that injured a man who was trying to serve him with a restraining order. The order was sought by Spears' father and was eventually granted.

A powerful anesthetic recovered from Michael Jackson's bedside after he died had been purchased in Nevada by his doctor who had it shipped to California, court documents show.

Search warrant records released Friday show that Dr. Conrad Murray bought the sedative propofol from Applied Pharmacy Services on May 12, according to receipts found in his Las Vegas medical office.

The Los Angeles County coroner blamed propofol in ruling that the 50-year-old pop music icon's June 25 death was a homicide. The coroner also cited the sedative lorazepam.

Molina allegedly punched Hilton from behind outside a Toronto nightclub after the openly gay blogger called Black Eyed Peas' leader will.i.am a "faggot," a slur for homosexuals.

Following the hearing, Molina's lawyer Mark Sandler read the written apology outside court.

LA police ask judge to keep Jackson records sealed

A police detective asked a Nevada judge Wednesday to keep warrant documents in the Michael Jackson death investigation sealed until Jan. 18.

Los Angeles police Detective Orlando Martinez made the request by telephone before Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair closed the hearing to the public.

Martinez did not provide further explanation while the hearing was open.

Taylor Swift to debut greeting card line in spring

American Greetings Corp. CEO Zev Weiss says Swift's abilities as a storyteller and songwriter make her a natural for writing cards that will appeal to all ages.

The Cleveland-based company said Tuesday that cards, gift wrap, stationery, online greetings and other related products overseen by Swift will begin appearing in the spring.
