FAIRFAX, Va. -- A Fairfax County company has won a nearly $27 million contract to provide engineering and technical support for the U.S. Navy's navigation systems in the United States and abroad.

WRSystems Ltd. announced Tuesday that most of the work will be carried out in Virginia's Hampton Roads region. If all options in the contract are exercised, it could reach a value of nearly $141 million.

The Navy contract combines purchases primarily for the Navy, as well as the governments of Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

WRSystems will support the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in Charleston, S.C.

The company also plans to begin marketing new technology that collects and measures exhaust emissions to help vessels reduce pollutants.
