COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jantel Lavender had 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 3 Ohio State to a 91-68 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday in the first round of the preseason Womens National Invitational Tournament.
Sarah Schulze had a career-high 18 points for the Buckeyes, and reserve Andrea Walker added 10 in the season opener for both teams.
Kelsey Wyss finished with 12 points for the Panthers.
The Buckeyes will host Chicago State or Bowling Green in the second round on Sunday. Eastern Illinois plays in the consolation bracket against an opponent to be determined.
