With only three races remaining, Jimmie Johnson owns a 184-pointadvantage over Mark Martin and stands 192 clear of Jeff Gordon. Johnson hasbeen red hot during the Chase for the Sprint Cup, recording seven straighttop-10 finishes, including three wins. After starting on the pole last week,Johnson placed sixth and increased his lead over Martin by 66 points andpadded his advantage over Gordon by 42.Last year, Carl Edwards raced to victory at Texas Motor Speedway, as he easilydefeated pole sitter Gordon by over eight seconds. Edwards, who started 16thon the grid, led five times for 212 laps, as he posted his 15th career SprintCup title. Edwards has won just once since last season and stands 10th on thepoints list.In 2007, current points leader Jimmie Johnson avenged his runner-up finish theprevious season with a victory over Matt Kenseth for his ninth win of thatcampaign. Johnson won by 0.944 of a second, as he recorded win number 32 of 46career titles. Johnson reclaimed the lead with just three laps remaining toovertake Kenseth.
