I mentioned a few weeks ago that Brody Hillman of the Carolina Forest Community Center was leading the effort to create the first foot races in Carolina Forest, and the date has been set!

Run in the Forest 5K and 10K will be April 18. Registration ends April 11. It costs $30 to participate. You can register online at the community center's Web site or stop by the center, 1381 Carolina Forest Blvd.

Questions? You can call Brody at 903-4681.

The races begin at 7 a.m. behind Fitness Edge, goes up Postal Way to Carolina Forest High School and the loops back. The 10K run adds a segment on Gardner Lacy Road.

Puuurfectly fun Word on the street is that tickets to "Cats," the Broadway musical that starts March 26 at Carolina Forest High School, are selling like hotcakes. Check out pages 4 and 5 for more on the show.

What's happening at other Carolina Forest schools? Let me know. This is your forum, the hot spot for your news, events, celebrations.

Pass it on

Two other terrific things in this issue I want to draw your attention to because perhaps it will motivate all of us to do something similar.

If you've been reading Your Carolina Forest regularly, you know Waterford Plantation is helping a family in need through a Guardian Angel project. Well, a Girl Scout troop of Daisies is pitching in to help, among many others. See page 8. Jennifer Lombardi has been amazed and delighted by the number of people who have stepped up to help.

Also churches are doing incredibly wonderful things to help those in need in the community. You want to read a heart-tugging, feel-good story? See page 8. And you can help! E-mail Waterford Plantation resident Jennifer Lombardi at lombardijenn@yahoo.com about the Guardian Angel project, and call Pastor Ken Enzor at 446-4330 or 236-7344 about groceries distribution.

What other great things are you doing? I want to know about them. These are tough times, in Carolina Forest and around the country - which means this is the best time to celebrate good deeds, and help one another when and where we can.
