Outdoors notebook: Yellowfin/OIFC Fall Brawl King Classic this weekend

The Yellowfin/OIFC Fall Brawl King Classic, a Southern Kingfish Association-sanctioned tournament, will be held this weekend at Ocean Isle Fishing Center in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

The Captains Meeting is today with registration beginning at 2 p.m. and complimentary dinner at 6 p.m. for participants. Boats will be able to fish one day, either Saturday or Sunday, captain's choice. The events awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.

SAFMC Public Hearings

The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council will hold a series of important public hearings regarding proposed management measures within Amendments 17A, 17B, and Amendment 18 to the Snapper Grouper Fishery Management Plan.

During the hearings, SAFMC staff will provide overviews of the management alternatives for Amendments 17A, 17B and Amendment 18, and will be available to answer questions.

The closest meetings to the Myrtle Beach are Nov. 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Airport (843-308-9330) in North Charleston and Nov. 3 at the Hilton New Bern Riverfront (252-638-3585) in New Bern, N.C. The hearings will be held from 3 to 7 p.m.
