A note from Kathy Marcus, The Waterford Amenities Complex Chairperson, about the amenities committee in Waterford:

The Waterford Plantation Amenities Committee and Events group looks forward to an eventful 2009.

With 2008 almost behind us, our Amenities Committee and Events group is already planning for a fun and exciting year for our residents. In just a short time since the groups were organized, they have already put on for successful community events. The Summer Pool Party, Wine Tasting, Chili Cookoff, and Winter Gathering. Our residents have commented that they are so happy to get involved and meet new neighbors. The Events Group has a few things up their sleeves for 2009. We will keep you posted as they come up.

On a more serious note, our Amenities Complex Committee and HOA has some concerns regarding the complex parking lot. It seems that we have some teens that are not respecting our property and not respecting the privilege of having a place to gather. It is becoming a dumping place of trash rather than a gathering place. Cars are also riding on our complex lawn. As our amenities chairperson, I have been working closely with our Board and HOA to come up with a plan to curb these disturbances. I ask that you all speak to your children about taking pride in where they live. Take pride in our neighborhood and learn the importance of respecting our community. We can not do this alone, we need the help of our residents, so please - talk to your kids, educate them - and Remember our motto - Love where you live. Together we can make a difference.

Thanks, Kathy, for your information.

In my opinion, we need to do something proactive about this situation. We have to make some choices. Some suggestions I have heard include putting security in the evening out there, installing a gate that we would need key cards to use, going back to the chain across the entrance to the parking lot, or having a community watch program to police the area. What do you think? Let me know. Please e-mail me at the address below and I will conduct a mini-poll.
