JOHNSONVILLE -- Clayton Geathers ran for 178 yards of the team's 307 yards to help the Bears cruise past the Flashes 40-8 on Friday night.

It was just the second game for Geathers, who had sat out until last week after sustaining an ankle injury in an auto accident before the start of the season.

Bears quarterback Deshawn Aiken threw for 89 yards on three completions.

The victory means Carvers Bay will host a game in the opening round of Friday's Class A state playoffs.

(At) Sumter 55, Conway 14 | Gamecocks quarterback Stephen Curtis threw for 224 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score as Sumter stayed unbeaten in Region VI-AAAA at 4-0, setting up a winner-take-all meeting at Hartsville next week.

Sumter and Hartsville have both locked up playoff spots. Conway dropped to 1-3 in the region and 4-6 overall.

Freshman quarterback Mykal Moody passed for 89 yards with a touchdown pass to Dallas Bellamy and rushed for 86 yards, including a second-half touchdown. Spencer Goffigan had three catches for 56 yards for the Tigers.

(At) Manning 55, Waccamaw 14 | The Warriors' run toward a second-place finish in the Region VIII-AA came to an abrupt halt as the Monarchs jumped out to a 42-0 lead at halftime and easily held on to lock up second place in the region and a home game when the Class AA playoffs start next week.

Quarterback Terron Britton was solid in a losing effort for Waccamaw, rushing 18 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. Britton also threw a scoring pass to Alex Burdette.

Waccamaw senior running back John Gibbs, who led the area in rushing yards going into Friday's game, was held to 36 yards on nine carries.

Waccamaw finishes as the third seed in region and will travel to Cheraw, where Waccamaw won two state titles as head coach, next week in the first round of the playoffs.

Lake City 38, (at) Georgetown 0 | The Panthers outgained the Bulldogs 340-120 in total yardage en route to a blowout victory.
