Conway's new movie theater opens

Rivertown Stadium 12 will open today as Conway's only movie theater offering 12 screens and stadium seating. The $6 million theater, owned by Frank Theatres, is in the Rivertown Commons development, a 23-acre plot next to the Office Depot and Wal-Mart complex on U.S. 501.

SC's Spoleto stages gala for theater reopening

The Spoleto Festival USA in South Carolina is sponsoring an April gala concert to celebrate the reopening of the historic Dock Street Theatre.

The Charleston theater, on the same site that a theater first opened in 1736, has been undergoing renovations for the past three years. Tickets for the April 1 gala at the Dock Street start at $250.

To celebrate the reopening, the festival this season is reviving "Flora," the first opera performed in the American colonies. This year's Spoleto opens May 28 and runs through June 13.

New theater to open in Myrtle Beach

A new theater is coming to Myrtle Beach in late spring, a representative from an IlIinois-based entertainment company announced Thursday.

The Pat Boone Family Theater is opening in the "heart of the shopping and entertainment district in Myrtle Beach" and Las Vegas illusionist and mentalist Morgan Strebler is scheduled to headline at the theater, said Glenn Milligan, president and CEO of Liquid Metal Holdings LLC.

Strebler is expected to perform about 200 days a year during the initial five-year deal.
