This weekend, Jamin' Leather is inviting the public to come out to Surfside Beach and take part in what they hope will become a new post-Thanksgiving tradition: a Hot Wings Throwdown and Car Show.

James Keats, president of Jamin' Leather, is looking forward to the kick-off of the event, which combines a car show and hot-wing contest.

"It should be a real exciting event and hopefully we can raise some good money and get some attention to this kind of event," he said.

Although car shows have been incorporated into previous Jamin' Leather events at annual bike rallies, this is the first time for the Hot Wings Throwdown.

The event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, and all classic and custom cars are invited to participate. Anyone who would like to show their car is welcome. The show will be hosted by Cecil Chandler and will feature a special appearance this year by Jeff Gilder of RacersReunion.com.

During the car show, the public is invited to vote for the "Most Jamin' Wing" winner. Hot Wing participants will include Cooter's Backyard Bar & Grill, Dagwood's Deli, Fat Jack's Wings & Things, Wing Street and the Surfside Fire Department.

Tickets will be sold for everyone to get a chance to try all of the competitor's entries. Winners of the Hot Wing Throwdown will be announced towards the end of the event.

Keats will also host a charity auction to round out the day's events. The auction will include such items as gift certificates to local restaurants and shops, and about $2,000-$3,000 worth of Jamin' Leather merchandise. The majority of proceeds and donations from the contest and the auction will go to benefit the Myrtle Beach Shriners.
