St. James Square: A Myrtle Beach Mixed-use Village
St. James Square, The Market Common's little sister developed by Dock Street Communities, is developing quite nicely off Grissom Parkway and 38th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach - an area bursting with new growth in banks, businesses and restaurants.
Sprouting up about three years ago, the mixed-use lifestyle village boasts carriage houses (two or three bedrooms, two stories, detached garage and private courtyard) and three-story live/work townhomes (with office spaces on the first level) that together evoke a timeless brick-front Main Street USA milieu.
Sidewalks, grassy areas and several ponds with fountains in this neo-traditional neighborhood encourage pedestrians to stroll on warm, sunny days. The classic backdrop has been the backdrop for the outdoor annual Fashion Art Ball fashion show gala to benefit Make-a-Wish.
Lining St. James Avenue are a potpourri of boutiques, salons and cafes, including Giada's Café on the corner, Frugal Princess Boutique, Angel Kisses (children's clothes), One on One Wellness, Salon Gina, Michael & Company Salon, Diamond Real Estate, Herrington Architecture Inc., St. James Salon and Birch Broom in the Fits (a salon).
