Myrtle Beach Area Restaurant Notes

Classic New England Deli is the newest restaurant near The Market Common. It opened Oct. 25 at 1600 Farrow Parkway, across from Emmens Preserve. It specializes in "Custom Made Sandwiches" and breakfast items. In addition to sandwiches the deli serves green salads, tuna and chicken salad, Buffalo chicken salad, cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, macaroni salad and seafood salad. Desserts (cookies, cakes, brownies) priced at $1.50 per serving will be baked daily, and if you're going to a party you can order a platter of finger sandwiches that serves up to 12 people for $40. The phone number is 839-9526, and the hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

For those who would rather celebrate Halloween during daylight hours, The Melting Pot is hosting its Save 2nd Base event to raise money for breast cancer research from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Three-course fondue meals are $25 per person and there will be a silent auction. The Melting Pot is at 5001 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, and the number is 692-9003.

LeGrand's Prime Alaskan Seafood and Steaks, which opened in July 2008, has closed. Marketing director Lauren Santagati sent out an e-mail on Oct. 21 stating, "Due to the current state of the economy, we regret to inform you that LeGrand's Prime Alaskan Seafood & Steaks located in Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach, SC has closed operations." On Oct. 23, another e-mail sent from LeGrand's added that employees with inquiries should contact the company by e-mail at legrandsemployee@gmail.com.
