More than 300 Santee Cooper customers along Seaboard Street and 10th Ave. N. were without power for a few minutes this evening due to problems with an equipment malfunction near the company's customer service office on 10th Ave. N., said Laura Varn, vice president of corporate communications for Santee Cooper.
The incident happened around 6:20 p.m. when 374 customers, including The Sun News, were without power until about 6:30 p.m., Varn said.
Crew members were already on site for something else when the power outage occurred, which resulted in them responding to it quickly, Varn said.
