Family of 5 escape morning home fire

HORRY COUNTY

A fire destroyed a single-wide mobile home in the Wampee community Sunday morning, said Todd Cartner, public information officer for Horry County Fire Rescue.

The blaze started around 10:35 a.m. in a bedroom at the home at 186 Green Village Road, Cartner said.

It took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the fire, but by then the home had been destroyed, he said.

The five family members who lived there escaped with no injuries, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.

Horry County Fire Rescue is investigating.
