Special teams and radio transmitters will be used to locate lost autistic children in Horry County as part of a partnership between the county Public Safety Division and the Horry County Autism Advocate Foundation.

The program, dubbed Project Lifesaver, uses personal wristbands that emit a tracking signal and deploys specially trained teams to quickly locate and return wandering autistic children to their families and caregivers.

A Project Lifesaver program orientation and officer meet-and-greet will take place on today at 7 p.m. in the M.L. Brown Jr. Public Safety Building, main conference room, 2560 N. Main Street in Conway.
