Can you believe what these Myrtle Beach politicians will do or say to stay in power? They must think we are complete idiots. For several years they have largely contributed to the utter destruction of the Myrtle Beach economy. Now they have the audacity at election time to try to deceive us with false promises of tax breaks along with the regurgitation of a bunch of "accomplishments" they think entitles them to a safe seat on the City Council.

Well, here is a list of only 11 of these accomplishments:

1. They ran off the shaggers.

2. They caused the Shriners to go elsewhere with their parades.

3. They taxed the Pavilion amusement park out of business.

4. They installed parking meters to the discouragement of downtown tourists.

5. They increased property taxes many times to the point that they are intolerable.

6. They placed fees (taxes) on business parking lots called "hybrid" parking.

7. They contributed to the dismantling of The Sun Fun Parade.

8. They created extra government fees for their tax and spend programs.

9. They constructed bus lanes on Ocean Boulevard that were used by tumbleweeds to the detriment of the traditional nostalgia of cruising.

10. They instrumented a Gestapo "checkpoint" in May that backed up tourist traffic to Carolina Forest.

11. Alienated the multimillion-dollar biker rallies.

Additionally, will someone please tell us how four individual candidates, running for four individual seats, can coincidently receive $1000 donations from the same 24 companies? Further, why does an innocent new mayor candidate get locked up over night for DUI who only blew a 0.0 for alcohol and was not a drug user? People are fed up with the direction our city government is being led. We can't afford any more of these "accomplishments." We want integrity, honor and good common sense in our leaders. We have a chance to evict these scoundrels, and I have faith we are going to make a change.
