Q: I'm interested in visiting some historical/cultural locations while vacationing in the Horry & Georgetown Areas this Summer (We're also planning a few day visits to Charleston, SC). Do you have any recommendations?

Answered 06/17/09 15:35:21 by Kent Kimes

A: Dear Jethro, why would we recommend visiting Charleston when we've got everything you need right here? Just kidding; it's a wonderful historical city. But if you want to soak up some history in Horry and Georgetown Counties while you're here, here are a few options: The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum, www.myrtlebeachartmuseum.org; Hobcaw Barony Discovery Center, www.hobcawbarony.com; The Rice Museum, www.ricemuseum.org; Brookgreen Gardens, www.brookgreen.org; The Horry County Museum, www.horrycountymuseum.org; Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center, www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/coloredschool.html. Also, depending upon when you visit, the art galleries and studios in downtown Conway host the First Saturday Artwalk Series in the historic district, and Theatre of the Republic stages live theatrical productions at the Main Street Theater (www.theatreoftherepublic.com).

Q: Can you suggest any good childrens' activities for a family of 5 (all kids under 8 years old) in your area, during a Summer vacation?
