High school girls golf
CAMDEN | North Myrtle Beach's Tara Lyons and Georgetown's Mallory Thompkins were the lone area golfers to qualify for state in Tuesday's Class AAA Lower State high school tournament at Camden Country Club.
Lyons (79) and Thompkins (89) each shot under 90 at the tournament -- which included teams from Class A, AA and AAA -- to earn individual spots in next week's Class AAA State Championship Tournament. No area teams qualified for the state tournament, which will be hosted by North Myrtle Beach High at Quail Creek Golf Club at Coastal Carolina University on Monday and Tuesday.
Bluffton (312) won Tuesday's tournament, while Strom Thurmond's MacKenzie Talbert was medalist after shooting 70.

High school volleyball
LITTLE RIVER | The North Myrtle Beach volleyball team defeated Myrtle Beach in four games (25-13, 25-20, 15-25, 25-11) at home Tuesday to secure the Region VII-AAA championship, finishing conference play 10-0.
The Chiefs' Grace Jones had 13 kills, Moriah Jones added 12 kills, Haley Thomas 10 kills and Megan Johnson had 29 assists in the championship match.
North Myrtle Beach defeated Socastee 2-0 (25-10, 25-5) to get to the title game, while Myrtle Beach reached the final by beating St. James in three games (24-26, 25-23, 25-22).
(At) West Brunswick (N.C.) 3, South Columbus (N.C.) 0 | The Trojans 19-3 (11-1 Waccamaw 2A/3A) clinched the region championship win a over the Stallions in three games (25-17, 25-9. 25-8).
Keri Nolan had 13 kills, seven service points and four aces, Kenzie McDuffie had 33 assists, Carly White had 15 kills and six blocks, Mariah Milliken had 17 service points and eight aces, Mattie Tippett had 15 service points and six aces, and Breana Gause had seven kills.
