COLUMBIA -- Norman arrested

Former Coastal Carolina football standout Marrio Norman was charged with multiple offenses following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Norman faces charges of simple possession of marijuana and possession of a suspended driver's license, said Myrtle Beach officials.

He was arrested about 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of 3rd Ave. South and Kings Highway in the city of Myrtle Beach. After posting $362 bail, Norman was released at 10:25 a.m., jail records show.

Norman, the brother of current Chanticleer standout Josh Norman, had a checkered history with the Chants, serving a school suspension and missing the entire 2005 season. He returned to the team and was a lockdown corner before suffering a season-ending injury early in the 2008 season. He attempted unsuccessfully to earn a free agent deal with an NFL team last spring, and has continued to work out for a second try to impress scouts in 2010.
