LYNCHBURGH, Va. -- Matt Bevins kicked four field goals and seven players scored for Liberty in a 54-14 rout of Virginia Military Institute on Saturday night.

The Flames (7-2, 4-0 Big South Conference) scored three touchdowns on offense, two on special teams and one on defense.

The Keydets (2-7, 1-5) took a 7-0 lead on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Hughes to Mario Scott with 13:43 left in the first quarter.

Liberty tied the game 11 seconds later on Aaron Hewlett's 80-yard kickoff return, then took the lead on Bevins' 42-yard field goal. He also had kicks of 38, 40 and 43 yards.

A.J. Toscano threw four touchdowns as Charleston Southern earned a win over Presbyterian.

Toscano completed 18 of his 32 pass attempts. He also rushed for a touchdown, and tied a school record with five touchdowns in a game. Gerald Stevenson added 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches for the Buccanneers.

The Blue Hose were paced by Lance Byrd, who rushed for 274 yards and two touchdowns. Byrd, a freshman, broke the school record for rushing yards in his first career start.
