Bin Yah: There’s No Place Like Home

Bin yah is a Gullah expression for been here, meaning natives or long-time residents. Many Bin Yahs are artisans and craftspeople, practicing traditional skills including sweetgrass basket making, brought over from West Africa and handed down from mothers and fathers to sons and daughters.

The Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art lineup

The multi-stage event is slated for September 12th – 28th.

The line up includes such entertainers as Sam Bush, Barrage, the Waccamaw High School Chorus, the Hallelujah Singers, Chamber Music with Phillip Powell, Agnes Kael-Nagy and Erin Althoff, Chicago City Limits, the Litchfield Ballet Foundation Childrens’ Theatre, the Long Bay Symphony and Jazz Under the Oaks, which includes performances by David Duckworth and Duda Lucena.
