MB hotel tops national list

A Myrtle Beach hotel was named the top family-friendly bargain hotel in the country by TripAdvisor, an online travel review site, beating out a slew of Orlando hotels.

The Dunes Village Resort at 5300 N. Ocean Boulevard topped the list of hotels around the country last week by traveler ratings and reviews that cited its amenities and indoor water park, and $139 average nightly rate, according to a TripAdvisor press release.

"Featuring its own fantastic indoor water park, in addition to beautiful ocean views, the new Dunes Village Resort is a property that is as appealing to children as it is parents," the release said. "Visitors will marvel at the resort's huge indoor river ride and water slide. According to a TripAdvisor traveler, 'Very clean rooms, water parks were amazing and the view was to die for!'"

Fifty-one percent of the 2,400 people who responded to a TripAdvisor survey said money was the "biggest barrier" to taking family vacations, and 30 percent said the hardest part of a family vacation was staying on budget, according to the press release.
