THE LOCALE| Hannah Banana's Sunshine Cabana
at Wacca Wache Marina, Murrells Inlet
THE LOWDOWN | Come by boat, car or golf cart to Hannah Banana’s Sunshine Cabana. That’s the place we hit this week to check out the beautiful view and Happy Hour deals.
Tucked away at the Wacca Wache Marina in Murrells Inlet, the Sunshine Cabana – the latest incarnation of a spot that’s been known as Boondocks River Grill and The Cypress before that – offers a fabulous view of the Waccamaw River. Sunshine or no sunshine, you’ll enjoy overlooking the water, trees and boats parked in the marina … along with some kayakers and people walking dogs.
The inside of the Cabana bar and restaurant is surrounded with windows, so anywhere you sit you’re guaranteed a great view. Bright colorful decorations such as beach balls, sand pails and kites add to its uplifting beach-y feel. The waitress station even looks like a lifeguard chair, and a surfboard sits in the corner.
You can sit outside on the wrap-around deck that connects to a boat dock. There’s also a large waterfront deck with tables that are shaded by a large oak tree.
A nautical clock hangs on the wall, and when it reads between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., that's when you can cash in on Happy Hour deals on weekdays. All alcohol is discounted $1, including liquor drinks, wine and beer. You can get a Pabst Blue Ribbon for just a buck. Appetizers are also sold at a $1 discount during Happy Hour … not just the fried kind, but soups and salads as well. Who says you can't be health-conscious during Happy Hour?
TIPS | Hannah Banana’s has free wireless Internet, so you can leave the office early and still work while enjoying Happy Hour deals. Plus there’s live music almost every night.
FIND IT | On the Intracoastal Waterway at 1950 Wachesaw Road, Murrells Inlet. Call 357-3655 or visit www.hannahbananassunshinecabana.com.
