The lowdown | Calling all hunters and sportsmen. If you like the lodge feel, the Riverwalk Grille is the place to be. That's where we found ourselves this week for happy hour.
The Riverwalk Grille is a stone's throw from the Horry County Courthouse in downtown Conway. The lodge-like atmosphere of this quaint restaurant is welcoming not only to the hunting type, but families, friends and loners as well. It's a great place to pop in for an after-work drink or meet for dinner.
Photographs of mallard ducks and the Conway Riverwalk hang on the walls. You'll also find mounted fish and a stuffed duck above the entrance. The wooden walls and green tables and booths add to the hunting lodge feel.
The menu is full of unique items such as the River Roll, filled with fresh collards, corn, peppers, ham, shrimp and chicken. The signature appetizer, the Riverwalk Dip, is a spicy blend of meats, veggies and cheeses, served with tortilla chips for dipping. Plus you'll find an array of salads, burgers and entrees, including chicken, seafood and steaks. The Riverwalk Grille's motto is - "our meat melts in your mouth." After an aromatic meal, you can stop by the Altoids machine in the corner to freshen your breath before you head out.
The wooden bar in the back of the restaurant seats about a dozen and Yuengling and Blue Moon beers are on tap. Happy hour deals run from 5-7 p.m. daily and include $2 domestic beers, $2.50 imports and $2.50 house liquors. Plus you can sip on Crown Royal or margaritas for $4.
Depending on the day, you'll find more drink specials at The Riverwalk Grille. Martini Mondays boast an array of martinis for less than $5; Two-dollar Tuesdays has your favorite house liquors for two bucks; and on Wine Glass Wednesdays, you can get certain glasses of wine for $4.
Tips | The Riverwalk Grille is a few steps away from the Conway Riverwalk, so you can enjoy a nice stroll along the Waccamaw River after your dinner or drinks.
