THE LOWDOWN | Many of you may know about Bumstead’s, the English Pub in the heart of Myrtle Beach, but you may not have yet ventured into their new room, coined the “Train Room,” because of a mini-train that runs inside. That’s where we hit for happy hour this week.
The Train Room offers the same low-key, dark feel of an English pub that the original side has, complete with street lamps, wooden booths and hightop tables, but you can also sit in comfortable chairs at low-top tables or stand near a convenient ledge to hold your drinks.
There are more TVs for your viewing enjoyment. Ten big-screens cover the walls, and seven smaller flat panels sit at each booth. Bumstead’s is a Redskins’ bar, so expect Washington fans decked out in burgundy and gold once football season arrives.
Bumstead’s has the MLB package, the NFL package and gets the UFC fights, but you won’t just find people competing on TV. Complete with a pool table, two dart boards and Golden Tee, the Train Room is your spot if you like to play games. It’s also a great locale for good deals on drinks.
Bumstead’s Happy Hour offers daily drink specials from 4-7 p.m., including certain draft import beers for $2.75, domestic drafts for $2 or less and domestic bottles for $2.25. Jagerbombs are also discounted, and you’ll pay just $4 for a vodka and Red Bull (Bumstead’s carries both regular and Sugarfree Red Bull.)
If you want some chicken wings to go along with your Red Bull wings, they’re on special for just $4. Other Happy Hour food specials include mozzarella sticks, quesadillas, chicken wings, mahi and crab cake hushpuppies.
TIPS | There’s no bar in the Train Room, so try to snag a server to bring you your food and drinks, unless you like walking back and forth to the bar.
